The Original doseBadge
Everything you need for occupational noise and industrial hygiene measurements
The doseBadge noise dosimeter system is the perfect solution for measuring a worker’s noise dose exposure. The badge is small and light, with no cable or controls and mounts comfortably on the worker’s shoulder. The dosimeter is then left on the worker, storing details about the noise levels throughout the day.
The doseBadge noise dosimeter has no controls or display and all control is over the infra-red link to the Reader. The doseBadge case is a lightweight alloy, giving added strength to the already strong cone shape.
The Original doseBadge noise dosimeter is a dual-channel instrument that will measure, store, and calculate the parameters essential for compliance with occupational noise regulations.
These include LAeq, LCPeak & LEP,d and % Dose, LAVG & TWA.
Along with these overall values, the Original doseBadge will store a Time History, or Noise Profile, throughout the measurement, for both channels.
The Original doseBadge survives in the harshest environments
The Original doseBadge noise dosimeter has been designed to survive in the toughest and harshest environments.
There are no cables, controls or displays to damage.
The microphone, battery, and electronics are housed in a durable, lightweight metal case, designed to resist damage from drops, knocks, or even being stood on.
Applications for the Original doseBadge Noise Dosimeter
Due to its unique and robust design, the doseBadge noise dosimeter is used across a wide range of applications where there is a need to assess workers’ noise exposure, such as:

Intrinsically Safe doseBadge

The Intrinsically Safe doseBadge Noise Dosimeter carries all the benefits of the original doseBadge Noise Dosimeter, with the advantage of also carrying intrinsically safe Certification, and is ideal for monitoring personal noise exposure in hazardous zones and explosive atmospheres.
- UKEX, ATEX, EEx, FM & SIMTARS Intrinsic Safety
- MSHA Intrinsic Safety (CR:112AIS version)
- All the same benefits and features of the Original doseBadge
- Ideal for use in Petrochemical, Mining and Confined Spaces
- High level of protection with a rugged, robust design
The Intrinsically Safe doseBadge Noise Dosimeter
The Intrinsically Safe doseBadge Noise Dosimeter is a wireless personal noise dosimeter with added intrinsically safe Certification that will measure, store, and calculate personal noise exposure for your workers.
This instrument can be used in hazardous zones, for example underground mines, petrochemical plants and other areas that require safe measurement equipment.
With all the features of the Original doseBadge Noise Dosimeter, such as no cables, control or displays, and the added intrinsically safe Certification, the dosebadge noise dosimeter is perfect for a number of different applications.
What is Intrinsic Safety?
Intrinsically Safe equipment has energy levels so low that they cannot cause an explosion. Hazardous areas are those with combustible materials such as gases, dusts, or fibres that might produce an ignitable mixture.
What is ATEX and EEx?
The ATEX Directive, (ATmosphere EXplosible), is an EU Directive that provides the technical requirements for equipment intended for use in potentially explosive and hazardous atmospheres.
The ATEX Directive became a mandatory requirement for all hazardous area equipment sold in the European Union from 2003.
In addition to the technical requirements demanded by the appropriate standards for each type of produce, the Atex Directive imposes additional requirements on the certificate holder in terms of quality systems and product documentation.
Intrinsic Safety Limitations
The doseBadge noise dosimeter, mounting kit and wind shield are approved for hazardous and explosive environments.
None of the other items (Reader, Charger, etc.) have I.S. approval as the doseBadge charging, calibration and start-up is carried out outside the hazardous area.

The doseBadge5 Personal Noise Dosimeter
Simple, effective & compliant noise exposure measurements
The Advanced doseBadge5 Personal Noise dosimeter is a high-performance wireless noise dosimeter that allows you to make compliant occupational noise exposure measurements, put into place effective control measures, and ensure that workers are not exposed to noise levels that will put their hearing at risk.
Personal Noise dosimeter is simple to use and allows you to gather robust, reliable information for use in the assessment of occupational noise exposure. There are no cables, controls, or displays on the individual badges so they remain tamper-proof.
In addition to the four independent channels or integrators (which you can configure to meet any combination of Regulations, Standards or Guidelines worldwide), the doseBadge5 Personal Noise dosimeter also provides real-time octave band analysis over the entire measurement and when combined with our license-free NoiseTools software, allows individual noise sources to be identified, making the selection of hearing protection, quicker, simpler and more effective.
Real-time octave band analysis
Throughout a measurement, the doseBadge5 Personal Noise dosimeter will measure the noise levels in octave bands from 63Hz to 8kHz, giving you detailed information about the frequency content of the noise.
This allows you to accurately detemine the levels of hearing protection needed based not only on noise levels (dB(A)), but also based on the dominant frequency of the noise.
You can download this information into the NoiseTools software for analysis and to create compliant noise exposure reports. NoiseTools also includes a comprehensive list of hearing protectors and will recommend the best ones to you based on your measurements.
Time history
Not only does the doseBadge5 noise dosimeter give the overall data (unweighted Leq) for each octave band, it also logs and stores a time history (or noise profile) for each band throughout the entire measurement.
This feature allows you to identify specific noise sources within a measurement, mark and annotate them, and use the hearing defender selector within NoiseTools to choose the correct level of hearing protection.
In summary with the doseBadge5 noise dosimeter, you can:
Measure the frequency content of the measured noise exposure
Highlight sections of the measurement and assess hearing protection against known noise sources
Assess hearing protection against a number of different measurements using the Measurement Group functions in NoiseTools
Gather detailed insights into the noise exposures of workers and make effective, informed decisions based on accurate data
Use Time History, to highlight sections of the measurement and understand more about the exposure levels at particular timesProduce compliant occupational noise reports with ease
